The Happenings
So. It all started back in May, post-graduation with a little spare time and the intention to do a little traveling. That said, I hadn't planned everything that's happened in the last two months (though I've come away with some fantastic shots, in my opinion), despite the inconvenience of being far-removed from the collective world community.
I departed to Alaska shortly after my last journal entry, flying from Atlanta, Georgia to Anchorage, Alaska on a seven hour, nonstop flight. Quite the experience, I must say, having never flown before.
From there, the two-week journey through Alaska began. South to Seward and through Kenai Fjords National Park earned some shots on a boat. I've yet to get around to stitching the panoramas together, but we'll see what I can do about that shortly.
Back through Anchorage and north to Talkeetna, Alaska brought the main objective of my photographic mission into sight: Denali. Called Mt. Mckinley, by some, it's known as Denali to the locals, which means "The Great One" in several of the old Alaskan languages.
The thing's a giant. It looms over everything, everywhere, at all times. Talkeetna's several hundred miles away from Denali, but it doesn't matter. The peak pervades the skyline, usually shrouding the northern horizon with cloud cover, due to its own weather patterns.
So, it only seems natural to climb into a 4-man biplane and head up about 12,000 ft. to challenge the mountain, right?
Which is exactly what we did.
After our return from Alaska, however, my traveling wasn't over. I ventured to another (and warmer) place: the beach. It's been about a month since I left, so it seems proper to reappear right about now, with enough time to find a job and get myself ready to take on the last semester of school.
Then I'm a graduate.
So far, though, it's been an eventful summer. I've got a knee injury, at the moment, so progress is slow (mobility-wise), but I'm hoping to shoot some new models in the coming weeks and, hopefully, re-partner with some old ones.
